A good book or movie can impact your mood, mindset and way of seeing the world. Have you had a piece of literature or a film change you for the better? We would appreciate your grateful review.

I'm grateful for books and for my love of reading. There is nothing that feels more indulgent or luxurious to me than curling up with a good book and reading it cover to cover over a weekend.
This is one of my favorite movies of all times. I have spent at least a dozen or more lazy Sunday afternoons watching this movie, I HAVE NO IDEA WHY! But it's great! Thanks Kevin Cosner!
Literature and film are entertaining for the entire family--entire body too! Nothing better than sitting down to a good book, or watching a movie together as a family!
Two of my favorite things, watching a good movie and reading a great book! I am thankful for men & women with the talent to write to entertain and educate me!
One of the great pleasures in my life is curling up with a good book. I truly appreciate the talent in my favorite author's writing. To me a good book allows me relaxation and peace in the comfort of my own home....or my book can travel with me and allow me to fill in the gaps in my day where I may find myself waiting for something. I do find gratitude when I learn something new and it allows me to expand my knowledge many times.
I watched this movie on Saturday...reminds me that love is out there and does exist and sometimes in the unlikeliest of places....grateful for it since it gives me hope...

The Complete Life's Little Instruction Book: best book ever! It is a collection of phrases, quotes and things to think about and remember throughout life. It is so inspiring, and puts into words my thoughts and constantly reminds me to be the best person I can be, and to take advantage of opportunities around me. This is the best 10 dollar investment I have made in a while...I carry it with me everywhere! I am thankful my friend introduced me to this amazing book!
I am so very thankful for literature and film. Without them, my life would be pretty dull. Especially J.R.R. Tolkien! He is, by far, in my opinion one of the most gifted writers ever. I am glad God gave him these talents that he shared with the world. Lord of the Rings is my favorite!

I am very grateful for film. Since I was very little, has captured my imagination and sparked my interest. Since then it has become a huge part of my life. It is my passion. Last year I switched high schools in order to study film production, and next semester I will finally be able to sharpen my raw skill. I am grateful to film, for it has shown me what I want to do for the rest of my life.
The holidays are here, and I love watching The Christmas Story over and over again. It really puts me in the mood for the holidays. I love how it celebrates good old fashion families and their values. I can't wait to watch it again this year.
I am so thankful to have found the author, Nora Roberts. In her books I find adventure, mystery, and lots of fun. I have listened to several of her books on CD and have loved each and everyone. Her books keep me on the edge of my seat and always wanting more.
I am so thankful for the many talented authors who have written the countless books I've been blessed to read. I am always grateful for the books that really make me think about and perhaps even change my life, but a light-hearted read or movie is also really a fun way to "escape" reality and elevate my mood.
A movie that has truly touched me was Fireproof. It was an honest look at marriage and relationships. Also, it brought God into the home. We need Him so much!
Even though I love to read, I don't read much fiction. So I am so thankful that some storytellers prefer to use the medium of film. More than books, movies create an impact that reverberates for me, brings me the story's implications within a viscerally enjoyable medium, where I can not only experience the story and its implications, but also a visual idea of the setting, how the characters look, and their actions. I wonder if my preference for movies over novels is because I don't have much sensory imagination? In any case, I am so thankful to those filmmakers who do.
For nearly ten years, once each month, I am privileged to gather with a group of smart women and share our ideas and perspectives about a book we have all read. I am so grateful for my book club, which opens my eyes and mind to books I would never have read on my own. These wonderful women share different perspectives, and we always a have a short discussion about films, too. We cast the main characters from every book we read (can be a little challenging when we read a Michael Pollan!) I am grateful for my book club, the Casting Crew, because of the literary world it opens to me.
Okay - not so high brow but they sure hit the spot when you need them! Even my husband has grown to appreciate them. I am grateful he watches them with me!

What a beautiful jewel of a film! I am grateful for the film center Le Forum des Images in Paris for their screenings specifically for parents with young babies for a) providing an outlet to still see films and b) for their fantastic programming including this film, "Meduzot"--I would have missed it otherwise.

I am grateful for my book club. We've been together since 1995 and still enjoy reading and discussing many different types of books. Once a year we watch a film of a book we've already read and compare them. On another note, one of my favorite movies of all time is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid...Newman and Redford are fantastic in it and I love when they keep asking "Who are those guys?"
+1#66thankful for the Harry Potter seriesChillymeg11-20-2009 20:03
I am very grateful for JK Rowling and her incredible work of the Harry Potter Series. Sounds silly, but my daughter has grown up with Harry Potter; we have read all of the books together and enjoyed all of the movies. I am grateful for the lessons learned, the rich details and creativity, the advanced vocabulary used, and difficult situations which my daughter and I can discuss.
I am absolutely in love with Maude. She inspires me with her fearless and free spirit, her joie de vivre. And I LOVE that they love each other despite their very nonconventional age difference. Age does not matter. Thanks Ruth Gordon!!!
I am grateful for a book I read several years ago (your erroneous zones) which changed my life dramatically. It explores the things we are taught from childhood that have a profund effect on our adult life. At the time I had some extreme issues with shyness which stemmed from these beliefs, and had I not read this book I would be nowhere near where I am presently.
the history the complex stories...the humor..laughter .love that can come from books...embrace them all..i am so gratefull for the freedom to read what i want ...
I read voraciously so I could go on all day appreciating books. I will write about the most recent one I read, for the second time, Man's Search For Meaning by Viktor Frankl. The first part consists of autobiographical accounts of his experiences in Nazi concentration camps, and reflections on the ways different people reacted to the horrifying living conditions, and how those reactions related to who survived and who didn't. The second part is an explanation of the psychological theory he developed from those reflections. This theory is that people are motivated, above all else, by having their life mean something. This last time that I read it, I realized several things about my own life. These realizations have added so much more meaning and have made me much more content. I see now that I've had a lot of missed opportunities but rather than regret them, I am focusing on how excited I am to see what it's like to live in this new way. I am very thankful to Viktor Frankl for his insights.
Tuesday night Quality Theater hosts discounts - So, most Tuesdays, I am grateful that my cousin, Jackie, and I can go out for dinner at Uptown Coney Island for a hot and fries and then head over to the theater and see a movie for less that $10.00 -- during these lean times, having a very affordable night out is magnificant. And, we have seen some really great movies with just recently having the opportunity to view The Wizard of Oz" which was celebrating its 70th anniversary. Hooray.
Also, book, books, and more books -- my dream would be to own a used book store which offered coffee and snacks, and a gallery loaded with artwork -- don't know if it will happen, but sometime dreams do come true.
I am grateful for a book which I have read and re-read since 1996; "Simple Abundance" and for the suggestion to write 5 things you are thankful each day. There are many other book that I love, but, this one is truly a daily read.
